Background

The cooperation between Atlantic Trade and EDITEL/PANTEON GROUP started in 2007 with the introduction of a reliable and specialised EDI solution, which represented an important step towards process automation and the elimination of inefficiencies in business operations.

Challenges before EDI

Prior to the introduction of EDI, Atlantic Trade faced several operational obstacles:

  • Resource-intensive processes: many employees were needed to process orders manually, resulting in frequent errors.
  • Operational inefficiencies: manual workflows slowed down order processing and required additional supervision.

Why EDI and EDITEL/PANTEON GROUP?

The decision to introduce EDI was driven by customer demands for a more efficient collaboration model, as Atlantic Trade was one of the major suppliers delivering directly to customer outlets, which meant a higher number of documents than required for central warehouses.

EDITEL/PANTEON GROUP was selected for its expertise and ability to provide a complete solution that met Atlantic Trade's specific needs.

Concerns about the introduction of EDI

When you decide to do something new, it's normal not to know what it will be and how it will be. Of all the things, perhaps the one that stood out the most was standardisation,”

explains Gregor Rustja, Senior Operations Process Supervisor at Atlantic Trade.

The company adds that they were hardly worried about the process because they knew that EDITEL/PANTEON GROUP had done it many times before and that they were the real experts in the field.

Integration and process improvements

The integration of EDI with the ERP and other Atlantic Trade systems was fast and seamless.

The key benefits were:

  • Simplified go-to-market: adding new customers became faster and easier.
  • Reduced errors: the occurrence of manual processing errors was significantly reduced.
  • Faster order processing: orders were processed much faster, increasing responsiveness.
  • Excellent document conversion: documents containing different types of messages were easily translated into standardised formats.

Impact on the competitiveness of the company

The introduction of EDI has strengthened Atlantic Trade's competitive position by optimising workflows and improving cooperation with partners.

The move to paperless operations has also strengthened its commitment to sustainability and modern business practices.

Scalability and adaptability to the market

EDI has proven to be very flexible as the company grows and the market changes.

Gregor Rustja continued:

If you're not quick to implement new solutions, you'll just pile up staff for inefficient manual tasks.”.

By automating processes and reducing the need for additional staff, Atlantic Trade has maintained operational efficiency while increasing the scale of its business.

Achievements through EDI

  • Automation: processes have become more efficient by reducing dependence on manual processes.
  • Sustainability: the move towards paperless operations has contributed to meeting ecological objectives.
  • Reduction of errors: greater accuracy and reliability of data has been achieved.

Business partners' response to the introduction of EDI

Almost all domestic partners were already using EDI and welcomed the change, while the introduction was slightly more difficult and less well received by EU-level businesses. Atlantic Trade has taken the right approach and is patiently building its international business reach while seizing the opportunity to introduce EDI to a specific partner at the right time.

Partnership with EDITEL/PANTEON GROUP

The long-standing cooperation with EDITEL/PANTEON GROUP is marked by:

  • Exceptional support: quick problem solving and proactive guidance from the start.
  • Flexibility: extensive knowledge of adapting to changing requirements, such as the UJP regulations.
  • Mutual benefits: easier logistics and faster data processing for partners.

Next steps and vision for the future

Atlantic Trade plans to digitise additional processes, ensuring full mobile integration to achieve 100% paperless operations.

Based on years of experience, it is hard for me to think of anything that needs to be improved, because everything is perfect. But it is important to always consider what is new on the market."

Gregor Rustja, Senior Operations Process Supervisor at Atlantic Trade.

Atlantic Trade envisages continued growth while moving towards a 100% paperless business, with the aim of digitising all remaining paper-based processes and leveraging mobile solutions for real-time data management.

Message for users who do not use EDI

The best advice for companies that are not yet using EDI, or are still unsure about it, is to switch to it as soon as possible."
